What a sad world we live in…
The 24-year-old, young girl, a student of art, completing her 5th semester from the beacon house University Lahore Rushaan Farukh. Rushan allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the university on Monday. Later, they took her to the hospital where she couldn’t succumb to her injuries. Thus, her body was handed over to her family.
Here’s what her friend shared the heartbreaking story
“Rushaan Farukh has passed away who joined BNU with us in the same year. I hope she rests in peace at last. This world failed her like it failed many others before her. She took with her all her sorrows, her troubles, and nightmares that made her Finnish her precious life in front of my eyes today.
I won’t be able to get some images out of my mind; How I was screaming and trying to stop her or how nobody from the third floor bothered to run up just one flight of stairs and kept staring at my face for acting frantic “for no reason”. The comments some passers made on “she’s just pulling a stunt” and that it’s all an attention-grabbing stunt etc. How when a guy finally decided to run she threw herself off. Can never forget the aftermath, her face, the pain, and the shock. How they weren’t letting me touch her and how I was dying to pick her broken body up and rush her to the hospital. They didn’t. Protocols. Will always remember how some people recorded it all in their phones me screaming, her falling and then dying, instead of helping.

Echoing in my ears.
It’ll all stay with me for the rest of my life. Not just the fact that she freed herself from all the pain but the fact that someone passed on without speaking up; afraid of this insensitive world. I wish I could help, I had enough time to pull her back. I wish people took it more seriously BEFORE she died.
I’ve witnessed someone ending their dreams, ambitions, aspirations, love and life. It’s shattering”
Rushaan posted this caption and a picture of her around March and this is just traumatic
“Hey so I kill myself anytime soon just remember me like this. Just in this saree, on a spring afternoon looking so happy, too happy.”
What a sad world we are living in. Listen closely, if you see a person in trouble, ask them twice if they are fine. Break the stereotypes against mental depression.
