Prime Minister Imran Khan to inaugurate Kartarpur Corridor on 28 November for Sikhs pilgrims.
In a groundbreaking initiative, India finally agreed on the terms of opening the Kartarpur corridor months after Pakistan proposed the offer of making the passage to provide an easement to Sikh pilgrims to visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib located at Narowal district Punjab, Pakistan.
The Kartarpur corridor was offered in August to Navjot Singh Siddhu by COAS Qamar Bajwa when he came to Pakistan for Imran Khan Oath taking ceremony.
India agreed on the proposal after the meeting led by Indian PM Narendra Modi, said Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
With the mutual agreement of both countries, Imran Khan will inaugurate the Kartarpur Corridor on 28 November for Baba Guru Nanak 550th birth anniversary. Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced this news in a tweet;
Pakistan has already conveyed to India it's decision to open Kartarpura Corridor for Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary. PM Imran Khan will do break ground at Kartarpura facilities on 28th November. We welcome the Sikh community to Pakistan for this auspicious occasion.

“In a landmark decision, the Cabinet approves building and development of Kartarpur corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district to International Border. Kartarpur corridor project with all modern amenities and facilities to be implemented with Central Government funding,” Said Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh in a tweet.
Federal Information Minister of Pakistan Fawad Chaudhary termed the decision of Kartarpur Border Opening as a “victory of peace lobby in both countries.”

The Significance of Gurdwara Kartarpur
The Gurdwara Kartarpur Darbar Sahib is highly significant for the Sikh community. At this place, the Sikh religious leader Baba Guru Nanak is settled, his birthday is celebrated by all Sikh community from all over the world on the full-moon day of Katak – the eighth month of Nanakshahi (Sikhism) Calendar. Today 23rd November marks Guru Nanak 550th birth anniversary that is celebrated as the Guru Nanak Jayanti or Guru Nanak Gurpurab. Hundreds and thousands of Sikhs pilgrims are desperately eager to visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib on this month.
This Kartarpur Corridor must be the best gift for the Sikhism community. Happy Guru Nanak Jayanti 2018 to all Sikhs!
