Mureed Abbas passed away
On Tuesday night two incident of target killings took place. One of which involves Mureed Abbas, a news-anchor for Bol TV Channel and has previously worked with Samaa TV as well. The incident took place at Khayaban-e-Bukhari Commercial area at Defense. According to the Police report, Mureed was accompanied by a friend, Khizer, at a cafe when a gunman shot both multiple times. Mureed died on the spot as his injury was severe. His friend Khizer died on the way to the hospital.
The police officials speculate that the killing may be a result of a personal dispute with a friend. However, nothing of the sort has been confirmed yet.
According to the officials, the attacker tried to commit suicide in his flat after the incident. He was taken to the hospital. Police have his name, address, and picture.
Two other men were also killed last night in the firing incident near Pehalwan goth area. The identity of the shooter is still unknown. The IGP has also asked the officials to conduct an investigation of the evidence collected from the area where the shooting took place.
