Nazia Hassan Queen of Pop
Today marks the 45th birth anniversary of Queen of Pop Nazia Hassan(3 April 1965 – 13 August 2000). She started her singing career at the age of 15 by providing the lead vocals for “Ap Jesa Koi” for the film Qurbani. The song was a huge success for her in India Despite her being a Pakistani. She then received the Filmfare award for the best female playback singer for her song.

In 1981, Nazia Hassan released her first album “Disco Diwane” accompanied by her Brother Zohaib Hassan which broke sales records in Pakistan. Consequently, the first non-soundtrack album to become a major success across the region. It was also the first South Asian song to become a hit in Russia, West Indies, and Latin America.
She also refused many Bollywood offers for working in the movies. Later she married on March 30th, 1995 and had a son. Nazia Hassan was diagnosed with lung cancer, the marriage ended with a divorced ten days before her death.

Nazia Hassan had a heart of Gold because she didn’t only limit her services to music. She used her abilities to promote social causes, in India she joined the Inner Wheel Club, as a matter of fact, She introduced mobile clinics in Lyari town. She later established the organization BAN (Battle Against Narcotics). That shows how much of a selfless person was she beyond the life of stardom.
