PTA HAS ISSUED NOTICE THAT MOBILE PHONES WHICH HAVE BEEN REGISTERED WILL REMAIN OPEN
According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority(PTA), mobile users need to verify their mobile devices to continue using their phones and to prevent their phones from getting blocked. PTA has issued the date of 1st December for the users to register their devices with the authority.
The verification system that has been launched by PTA is called Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System(DIRBS). This is the second time PTA has demanded locals to register their mobile devices, few weeks ago, PTA had issued noticed before too with the deadline time to register devices of 20th October. However, which was then extended to the date which was not announced then.
Mobile phones which have been bought from abroad can also get registered and verified from PTA by providing the IMEI number with the name of the country from where it has been bought. While the devices bought locally merely need their IMEI numbers to be sent to the number of PTA.
To register mobile devices with PTA, is to send IMEI number to 8484, and the way to get IMEI number is to dial *06# from your smart phones, or it is also written on the back of mobile phones where sims and batteries are inserted.
The registration with authority of devices would prevent devices to get blocked and would remain in use even in abroad. The reason why Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is demanding registration and verification is to resist the use of illegal devices in the country and not let any criminal activity to be done in the country.
This step will enhance the quality of mobile services, it will also improve the revenue for the government and would also be beneficial for security issues. It will increase the growth of legal mobile devices which will strengthen networks for local consumers.
