Pakistan’s most beloved car Suzuki Mehran is soon going to replace by Suzuki Alto 660cc in the first quarter of the next year.

Suzuki Pakistan unveiled the plans of Mehran discontinuation in their internal circular to the vendors, it revealed that Mehran VX and VXR will no longer manufacture after April 2019. Suzuki’s purpose, of revealing it earlier, is to instruct its vendor to slow down the manufacturing of Mehran parts.
Suzuki is planning to launch Alto 660cc in order to fulfil the segment of Mehran.

Also 660cc Specification
In order to fulfil the segment, Suzuki Alto with a 660cc engine will come in a total of three variants, two manual and one automatic. It is speculated to be launched in 2018 December or the first quarter of 2019.
All three variants of new Alto will come with power steering with the imported engine and the locally manufactured transmission – it is said that the transmission will be similar to the one used in Suzuki Wagon R.
Suzuki has used the “Suzuki Green Technology” in the manufacturing of Alto to make it fuel efficient, it will give a fuel average of 37km/litre – pretty good for a non-hybrid car.

Release Date
The release date is expected to announce by the end of October and will be available for the customer by March 2019.
According to the inside sources of Suzuki, 25 units of new Alto has already developed and another 20 to 25 units is under the process of assembling for display purpose.
Price
Suzuki Alto 660cc price in Pakistan has not confirmed yet, however, a manual variant is expected to cost around 800,000 – 900,000 PKR and the automatic might cost over a million.
Why Suzuki Discontinued Mehran?
The decision of discontinuing Mehran manufacturing is made on the order from Suzuki Japan, the parent company considered it very expensive and inconvenient to provide the parts for the old hatchback.
