Supreme Court acquitted Christian women Aasia Bibi in the blasphemy case. Earlier in 2010, she was sentenced to death – judgment passed by the lower court.

On Wednesday, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, the bench was comprised of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel passed the judgment of reversing the Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict and ordered the authorities to release Aasia Bibi from prison on the blasphemy case.

On the judgment Justice Khosa share his opinion;

“The appeal is allowed. She has been acquitted. The judgement of the high court, as well as the trial court, is reversed. Her conviction is set aside,”

A death sentence was announced on Aasia Bibi in November 2010 after she was convicted on charges of committing blasphemy during an argument with two Muslim women in Sheikhupura.

The verdict led the chaos across the country and mostly affected the metropolis, the verdict on the case intimidated the sentiments of leading religious political party of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Labbaik, soon after the verdict TLP leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi ordered his workers to declared the protest.

The worker has started to block the major routes of Karachi, the protest led the blockage of the roads including;

• Gurumandir,
• Lines Area,
• Tower/Native Jetty,
• Hub River Road,
• Sohrab Goth,
• Orangi No. 5,
• 4-K Chowrangi,
• Star Gate,
• Quaidabad,
• Al Asif,
• Nagan Chowrangi, and many other areas

The citizen of Karachi took over the social media and continue updating their counterpart about the conditions.
